When I studied the markets intensely because I wanted to know as much as I can about them, I happened upon some writings by Willaim D. Gann. The writings I had at hand back then, some thirty years ago, alluded to timing cycles he used to accurately forecast market action.

This was back in 1973. I was a subscriber to a magazine named Commodities magazine. This was the precursor to the present day Futures magazine. I saw a small display advertisement offering books written by William D. Gann. The seller was Billy Jones.

I sent in my money for a copy of one of William D. Gann's books. After several months of waiting for the book, and not receiving it, I sent Billy Jones a letter inquiring what happened to my order.

Anxious to have the book, I sought out the widow of William D. Gann. I tracked her living in Florida. I contacted her and asked if she had any of her husband's writings. She told me that someone had just bought two van loads of her husband's writings a year earlier. She got rid of everything. When I asked who it was who bought the materials so I could contact him or her to study the materials, she blurted out that the buyer was a gentleman by the name of Billy Jones. Jones bought everything a full year earlier and I had missed out buying it myself.

So, I missed out by one year to buy all of the William D. Gann materials. Instead, it was Billy Jones who beat me to it. I'll relate inside stories about Billy Jones as this thread evolves.
